**Sudan:** US President Joe Biden on Tuesday called on the warring parties in Sudan to end the violence and re-engage in negotiations to end the 17-month-long conflict. Biden specifically urged the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to cease fighting, allow humanitarian access, and return to the negotiating table. The conflict has claimed the lives of over 12,000 people since its outbreak on April 15, 2023. Biden condemned the RSF’s attacks on civilians and urged the SAF to halt indiscriminate bombings. The US has previously sanctioned 16 individuals and entities tied to the war and is evaluating further sanctions.

**Israel-Lebanon:** Meanwhile, Israel is preparing for a “new phase” in its conflict with Hezbollah, according to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Gallant spoke of the need for courage, determination, and perseverance in addressing the escalating tensions. The Israeli military has been reinforcing its border with Lebanon, moving troops and resources to the north following months of conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Israeli leaders have warned of potential increased operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, citing the need to halt cross-border exchanges and ensure the safe return of residents evacuated from northern border areas.
