**New Delhi:** Following Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation as Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, who has been named as his successor, is likely to be provided with ‘Z’ category security, sources in Delhi Police have revealed. The decision on her security cover is expected to be made in the coming days.
As per protocol, Delhi’s Chief Minister is entitled to ‘Z’ category security, which typically involves around 22 personnel deployed in shifts. Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s own security will be reviewed after his resignation. The current ‘Z-Plus’ security provided to him involves a deployment of 40 policemen in shifts.
Atishi, a senior AAP leader and close confidante of Kejriwal, will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi after Kejriwal stepped down on Tuesday. She holds 14 portfolios including finance, education, and revenue, and was instrumental in managing affairs while Kejriwal was in jail.
This move comes amidst speculation surrounding the upcoming Assembly elections due in five months. Atishi’s appointment marks a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape.
