Tue Sep 17 06:03:03 UTC 2024: ## Americans Devoured Record-Breaking Amounts of Wireless Data in 2023

**Washington, D.C.** – The United States experienced a surge in wireless data usage in 2023, with Americans consuming a record-breaking 100 trillion megabytes (or 100 billion gigabytes) of data, according to a new report from the CTIA – The Wireless Association. This represents a staggering 36% increase compared to 2022 and nearly double the amount consumed in 2021.

The CTIA’s 2024 Annual Wireless Industry Survey attributes this dramatic rise to the increasing adoption of 5G technology. Nearly 40% of all wireless devices in the US now have 5G connectivity, an increase of 34% from 2022. This means there are now over 223 million devices in the US capable of accessing 5G networks.

“The growth in wireless data usage is a testament to the power and potential of our industry,” said Meredith Attwell Baker, CTIA President and CEO. “The demand for data is only going to continue to increase as consumers rely on their wireless devices for more and more aspects of their lives.”

With a total of 558 million wireless connections in the US (an average of 1.6 connections per person), it’s clear that Americans are embracing the connected world. The survey also found that 330 million Americans are covered by one or more 5G networks, highlighting the growing availability of this advanced technology.

The report paints a picture of an increasingly data-driven society, with consumers relying on wireless connections for everything from communication and entertainment to work and education. This trend is expected to continue as the industry further develops and expands its reach.
