**New Delhi:** Amazon has announced a leadership change in India, with veteran executive Samir Kumar taking over as Country Manager, effective October 1st. Kumar, a 25-year Amazon veteran who was instrumental in the launch of Amazon.in in 2013, will now oversee the company’s Indian consumer business.
This follows the resignation of Manish Tiwary, who has decided to pursue opportunities outside Amazon. Tiwary had been leading Amazon India since 2019, overseeing significant growth in the company’s market share.
Kumar is currently responsible for Amazon’s consumer businesses in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey. He will now add India to his responsibilities, reporting directly to Amit Agarwal, Amazon’s Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets.
Agarwal expressed confidence in Kumar’s ability to lead Amazon India, highlighting his extensive experience and understanding of the Indian market. He also thanked Tiwary for his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors.
The leadership changes come as Amazon continues to invest heavily in India, viewing it as a key growth market. With a strong local leadership team and Kumar’s expertise, the company is optimistic about its future prospects in India.
