**Uyo, Akwa Ibom State** – Journalists in Akwa Ibom State are gearing up for a landmark event: the first-ever Media Stakeholders Summit. Scheduled for Friday, September 20th, 2024, at the NUJ Secretariat in Uyo, the summit aims to address the current state of media in the state and chart a path forward.

Themed “The State of the Media in Akwa Ibom State: The Way Forward”, the summit will bring together prominent figures from the media industry including reporters, editors, and publishers. Co-chaired by former NUJ Chairman Israel Umoh and Premium Times Regional Editor Cletus Ukpong, the event will feature a series of insightful discussions on key topics affecting the media landscape.

Dr Idongesit Ashameri will deliver the keynote address, reflecting on “Media Practice in Akwa Ibom: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”. Other speakers include Idorenyin Aquaisua, Ekemini Simon, and Otuekong Franklyn Isong, who will delve into challenges, opportunities, and press freedom in the state.

The summit, by invitation only, will be divided into two sessions: a pre-summit session for media relations managers and a stakeholders’ business session. The event promises to be a crucial platform for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and shaping the future of media in Akwa Ibom State.
