**Gandhinagar, Gujarat:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, highlighting India’s ambitious green energy goals and commitment to sustainable development.
The three-day summit, celebrating India’s achievement of over 200 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity, showcased cutting-edge innovations from public and private sectors.
Modi emphasized India’s commitment to becoming the third-largest economy in the world while also achieving its climate targets. He stressed the importance of a “pro-planet people” approach, reflected in initiatives like the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) campaign.
Highlighting India’s progress, Modi pointed to the achievement of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme providing rooftop solar installations to families, and the successful implementation of India’s first solar village, Modhera. He also emphasized the government’s focus on Green Hydrogen, waste-to-energy initiatives, and the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ campaign promoting tree planting.
Modi also highlighted the government’s plans to achieve net-zero emissions in the railway sector by 2030, increase ethanol blending in petrol to 20% by 2025, and promote the development of 12 new industrial cities. He urged investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities presented by India’s green transition, promising strong returns and a “Made in India” approach.
The RE-INVEST summit is expected to attract significant investment in India’s renewable energy sector, further strengthening the country’s position as a global leader in sustainable development.
