Sun Sep 15 16:51:05 UTC 2024: ## Met Office Advises Brits to Close Curtains Early to Stay Warm Amidst Chilling Temperatures
With the UK facing a sharp drop in temperatures, the Met Office has issued advice to help residents stay warm during the colder months. The organization recommends closing curtains as early as 4:30pm to trap heat inside homes, particularly as sunset occurs earlier in the coming months.
“Draw your curtains at dusk to help keep the heat generated inside your rooms,” the Met Office advises.
They also suggest ensuring radiators aren’t obstructed by furniture or curtains to maximize their efficiency. For those over 65 or with health concerns, maintaining a bedroom temperature of at least 18C is crucial, especially as nighttime temperatures plummet.
Additionally, the Met Office emphasizes the importance of sealing off bathrooms to conserve heat, advising homeowners to close bathroom windows overnight.
While the UK is currently experiencing a cold snap, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon with warmer weather predicted for next week. Temperatures are expected to rise to 19-21C in Scotland and Northern Ireland, and 22-25C in parts of England and Wales.
