Tue Sep 17 10:00:51 UTC 2024: ## Trump Targeted in Second Assassination Attempt While Golfing

**West Palm Beach, Florida** – Former President Donald Trump was the target of a second assassination attempt in just three months while playing golf at his West Palm Beach course on Sunday, authorities confirmed.

According to reports, Secret Service agents stationed ahead of Trump spotted a man armed with an AK-47-style rifle aiming at the former president through a chainlink fence. The agents swiftly opened fire, forcing the suspect to flee. The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh from Hawaii, was apprehended after a high-speed chase on Interstate 95.

Trump, who was unaware of the incident until after it occurred, described the experience as “quite something” during a Monday Night X Space appearance. He expressed gratitude for the Secret Service’s quick action and commended their “excellent job” in apprehending the suspect.

Ohio Senator and former Vice President Mike Pence’s running mate, JD Vance, revealed he received a phone call from Trump just minutes after the incident. Vance, who was at home with his children in Cincinnati, was initially skeptical when he saw Trump’s name on his phone.

“He says, ‘JD, you’re not going to believe this, but they tried to do it again,'” Vance recounted to a crowd at a Faith and Freedom Coalition event in Georgia. Trump explained that he was playing golf when the Secret Service intervened, preventing a potential tragedy.

Routh has been charged with federal gun offenses, and authorities are pursuing additional charges. The investigation is ongoing.
