Sun Sep 15 17:05:49 UTC 2024: ## Eagles’ Dotson Ready to Shine in Expanded Role After A.J. Brown Injury

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson is poised for an increased role in Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons after superstar receiver A.J. Brown was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Dotson, acquired from the Washington Commanders in August, is looking to prove his worth after a disappointing stint with his former team.

The 23-year-old wideout, a former Penn State star, played 30 snaps against the Packers without a catch in his Eagles debut. While Dotson acknowledges adjusting to the Eagles’ offensive terminology, he feels confident in his ability to make plays and keep opposing defenses on their toes.

“I’m extremely comfortable,” Dotson said after practice Saturday. “We’re preparing right now as if A.J. is playing. But if my opportunities do come, I’m going to take full advantage of them. That’s what I was pretty much brought here to do.”

With Brown sidelined, Dotson becomes a key target for quarterback Jalen Hurts in an Eagles offense loaded with other offensive weapons. The Eagles have a history of struggling to find a reliable third receiver, and Dotson is hoping to change that narrative.

“A lot more comfortable within the playbook, within my role in this team,” Dotson added. “Working on it day by day, but getting more comfortable each and every day. So it’s been good.”

Dotson’s performance will be watched closely by Eagles fans, especially with his local ties. He attended Nazareth Area High School and played a year at Peddie School before his stellar career at Penn State. Monday night’s game will also be a special one for Dotson, as it marks the first time two Penn State players will start for the Eagles in the same game since 1997.

With the electric atmosphere at Lincoln Financial Field, Dotson is excited to prove himself in a primetime matchup. “It’s going to be pretty cool, pretty awesome,” he said. “It’s going to be electric Monday night. Me, personally, I love night games, so I’m really excited for it.”
