Sun Sep 15 16:50:37 UTC 2024: ## Red Bull Relegated to Chasers After McLaren Upset in Azerbaijan

**Baku, Azerbaijan -** Red Bull Racing, the reigning Formula One champions, have lost their lead in the constructors’ championship after a stunning upset by McLaren at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri took the victory, while teammate Lando Norris secured a crucial fourth place finish, propelling the team to the top of the standings with a 20-point lead over Red Bull.

The result marks a significant shift in the championship dynamic, with Red Bull transitioning from dominant leaders to determined chasers. Team boss Christian Horner acknowledged the shock, stating, “Look, we’re now not defending, we’re chasing. So it changes the dynamic again, and we’re just going to throw everything at it.”

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez suffered a frustrating race, crashing out while challenging for a podium finish, while Max Verstappen finished fifth, extending his lead in the driver’s championship but narrowing the gap to Norris to 59 points.

McLaren’s victory comes after a dominant performance by Red Bull in 2022, where they secured a record 21 wins out of 22 races. The shift in fortunes can be attributed to a strong performance by McLaren, coupled with a series of unfortunate events for Red Bull, including a crash between Perez and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz on the penultimate lap.

Despite the setback, Horner remains optimistic, emphasizing Red Bull’s commitment to regaining the lead. “We’ve got 20 points as a deficit now, so we’ve got to attack,” he said.

With seven rounds remaining, the Formula One championship promises an intense battle between Red Bull and McLaren. Both teams will be looking to maximize their performance in the upcoming races, and the championship outcome remains uncertain.
