Mon Sep 16 15:38:36 UTC 2024: ## Colts Star Defender Buckner Suffers Ankle Sprain, Status Uncertain for Week 3

Indianapolis Colts fans are holding their breath after star defensive lineman DeForest Buckner suffered an ankle sprain during their Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers. While X-rays were negative, Buckner’s status for Week 3 against the Chicago Bears remains uncertain.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Buckner is considered a “long-shot” for the game, with an MRI scheduled to determine the severity of the sprain. Despite being listed as questionable before the game, Buckner played against the Packers but recorded only one tackle.

If Buckner is unable to play, the Colts will rely on star defensive end Kwity Paye and other players to fill the gap. The team is already struggling with a 0-2 record and is hoping to secure their first win against a Bears team that has struggled offensively.

Buckner has been a crucial piece of the Colts’ defense, recording eight sacks in each of the last two seasons and 81 total tackles last year. His absence could be a major blow to the Colts’ run defense, which has already given up 159 yards to the Texans and 151 yards to the Packers in the first two games.

While the Bears haven’t been a strong running team this season, the Colts will need to contain their rushing attack if they want to secure their first win of the season. With or without Buckner on the field, the Colts will be looking to find some momentum as they head into Week 3.
