Mon Sep 16 15:44:24 UTC 2024: ## Colorado Buffaloes Pummel Rival CSU in Rocky Mountain Showdown, Shedeur Sanders Shines
**FORT COLLINS, CO** – Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback son of head coach Deion Sanders, led the Colorado Buffaloes to a dominant 28-9 victory over the Colorado State Rams in the Rocky Mountain Showdown Saturday. Sanders threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns, completing 73.5% of his passes, in a performance that silenced any lingering doubts about the offensive line’s ability to protect him.
The Buffaloes’ offensive line, which was the subject of much criticism last week after Sanders was sacked five times against Nebraska, answered the call in a big way. They allowed only one sack against CSU, a testament to their improved cohesion and communication. The line’s performance was highlighted by the team’s 109 rushing yards, their third-highest output since Deion Sanders took over the program.
“The offensive line was phenomenal,” said Coach Sanders, who praised the line’s resilience in the face of adversity. “You guys buried them last week after the game. You didn’t say anything tremendously positive when I think they almost went for 500 yards total offense and we won (against North Dakota State), right? Where was the praise and the love?”
The game was also marked by a heated rivalry between Sanders and CSU quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. Sanders, who was visibly upset by comments made by Fowler-Nicolosi and receiver Tory Horton leading up to the game, rebuffed a handshake from Fowler-Nicolosi after the final whistle. The two-time Heisman hopeful then took a jab at Fowler-Nicolosi in a video posted by “Well Off Media,” a media outlet that chronicles Sanders and the Buffaloes.
“A couple of their players took shots at the whole program and a few of our players,” Deion Sanders said after the game. “We knew that coming into the game, it was going to be a bit personal and it was. We did what we needed to do to come out (of) here with a victory. We really wanted it to be decisive.”
The victory over their in-state rivals marks a strong start to the season for the Buffaloes, who are entering their first year in the Big 12 Conference. They will face a tough test next week as they host Baylor in their conference opener. With Sanders and a solid offensive line leading the way, the Buffaloes will be looking to make a statement in their new conference.
