**Kolkata, September 17, 2024:** The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday interrogated former R.G. Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh and Tala police station officer-in-charge Abhijit Mondal in connection with the rape and murder of a doctor at the hospital.

The duo were questioned face-to-face, with CBI officers seeking clarification on their actions on August 9, the day the doctor’s body was found. They were asked to explain the delay in registering an FIR, the reasons for conducting a post-mortem without a formal FIR, and details of phone calls exchanged between them during the police investigation.

The interrogation, which began on Monday, is expected to continue late into the night. Both Ghosh and Mondal remain in CBI custody until September 17.

Mondal was arrested on Saturday and charged with evidence tampering. Ghosh, already in judicial custody for alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar hospital, also faces evidence tampering charges. Mondal is also accused of delaying the FIR registration and other offences related to the case.

The post-graduate trainee doctor’s body was discovered in the hospital’s seminar hall on August 9th. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice.
