Mon Sep 16 15:14:02 UTC 2024: ## Air Force Needs to Pair B-21 Stealth Bomber with Drones and Hypersonic Weapons, Expert Argues

**WASHINGTON, D.C.** – The U.S. Air Force’s newest stealth bomber, the B-21 Raider, may face challenges in achieving its full potential due to the limited number of units being produced, according to national security analyst Brandon J. Weichert.

While the B-21 boasts advanced stealth capabilities and the ability to deliver various payloads, the Air Force needs at least 300 units to effectively utilize it. However, current projections indicate only 100 units will be delivered over the next decade.

To maximize the B-21’s effectiveness, Weichert suggests pairing it with next-generation drones and investing in both offensive and defensive hypersonic weapons systems. He argues that this combination would be crucial for penetrating sophisticated enemy air defenses, particularly in the face of escalating tensions with China and Russia.

“The B-21 is without a doubt the most advanced bomber in the world,” Weichert stated. “Augmenting it with advanced drones would ensure mission success and allow it to overcome the threats posed to US power projection platforms.”

Weichert also emphasized the need for the Air Force to pool resources with the Army and other branches to develop hypersonic weapons and defenses against them. “Time is running out,” he warned. “Soon, a shooting war either with China or Russia will be upon us.”

The B-21 Raider, according to Weichert, is a worthy investment. However, the limited production numbers and the need to adapt to the changing technological landscape necessitate a strategic shift towards integrating drones and hypersonic weapons into the bomber’s operations.
