Sun Sep 15 17:00:00 UTC 2024: ## UFC Champions Pereira and Jones To Train Together Ahead of Upcoming Fights

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has revealed that he is set to train with heavyweight champion Jon Jones ahead of their respective upcoming title defenses. Pereira, who is scheduled to defend his belt against Khalil Rountree at UFC 307 on October 5th, said he has been texting Jones about the potential training partnership.

The training camp could take place before Jones’ heavyweight title clash against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November. Pereira believes the timing is ideal, given that both fighters will need some rest and recovery following their respective fights. “There’s always something coming off a fight, a small injury, so we can get some rest and then train together,” Pereira said.

Although many are eager to see a superfight between the two champions, Pereira maintains that his focus is on learning from Jones’ vast experience. “I think I have to make the most of this guy’s experience,” he explained. “He has a ton of experience, but people are talking about him maybe doing only one or two fights more, and I’m not even at heavyweight yet.”

Pereira’s decision to train with Jones could potentially put a future clash between the two champions on hold. However, the Brazilian champion has expressed a desire to regain his 185-pound title first, stating that a fight against middleweight Dricus du Plessis would be “easier” than a matchup against Jones.

He went on to criticize du Plessis’ reluctance to accept the fight, accusing him of being “scared” and calling for the UFC to make the match happen.

The training partnership between Pereira and Jones is sure to generate excitement within the UFC community, as fans anticipate the potential for knowledge sharing and the possibility of a future championship clash.
