**West Palm Beach, FL** – Acting director of the Secret Service Ronald L. Rowe, Jr., has arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida, and will remain on the scene “indefinitely,” according to CNN reporter Zachary Cohen. This comes on the heels of a second attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in just over two months.
The suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, was apprehended Sunday while Trump was playing golf in South Florida. Routh, who appears aligned with a neocon agenda, has a history of posting about the Ukraine/Russian conflict and even attempted to recruit volunteers to fight against Russia. He was interviewed by the New York Times in 2023 about his efforts.
Routh’s political views seem to have shifted dramatically over the years. While he supported Trump in 2016, he turned against him by 2020 and has since made inflammatory posts, including one that read, “Make Americans slaves again.” He has also reportedly placed a Harris-Biden bumper sticker on a truck outside his home and donated to Democrats’ fundraising efforts.
Furthermore, excerpts from a book Routh wrote about the Ukraine war circulating on social media reveal him encouraging Iran to assassinate Trump and claiming that Trump “perpetrated” the January 6th Capitol riot, echoing Democrat talking points.
Following the incident, both Republicans and Democrats condemned the attempted assassination. However, some in establishment media immediately blamed Trump for supposedly inflammatory rhetoric, suggesting it was responsible for the violence.
President Biden, while urging Congress to provide the Secret Service with more resources, did not explicitly address the need for increased security for Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris also remained silent on the issue in her statement.
The Secret Service has not commented on the incident or the deployment of their acting director.
