**Hyderabad:** The Andhra Pradesh government has suspended three senior IPS officers, including a former intelligence chief, for their alleged involvement in the wrongful arrest and harassment of a Mumbai-based actor-cum-model. The suspension follows an inquiry that revealed their role in the incident which occurred during the previous regime.

Former intelligence chief P Sitharama Anjaneyulu (DG rank), former Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kranti Rana Tata (IG rank) and Vishal Gunni (SP rank), then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Vijayawada), have been suspended for allegedly harassing the model without proper investigation. The model had accused the officers of threatening her with dire consequences if she did not withdraw a case against a Mumbai corporation executive.

The model was arrested earlier this year based on a complaint by a YSR Congress leader who accused her of cheating. The then intelligence chief, Anjaneyulu, instructed the two other officials to arrest her, even though no crime had been registered against her at the time. The investigation revealed that the FIR against the model was registered on February 2nd, but Anjaneyulu instructed the other officials to arrest her on January 31st.

The model recently filed a complaint against the police officials alleging a false case and harassment. Based on her complaint, the state government decided to suspend the three officers.

The suspension comes amidst ongoing controversy regarding the alleged misuse of power during the previous government. Notably, the suspended officers were among 16 IPS officers who were previously ordered to mark their attendance in the DGP’s office twice a day without any post.
