Mon Sep 16 16:12:56 UTC 2024: ## Suspect Arrested After Apparent Assassination Attempt on Trump in Florida

**Palm Beach, FL** – Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, has been taken into custody following an apparent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Course in Florida.

Routh, who has a history of legal issues and a mixed political background, is suspected of approaching the golf course armed with an AK-47-style rifle on Sunday. The FBI recovered the weapon, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera from the bush where he was hiding.

Although he initially escaped in his car, a witness identified the black Nissan he was driving and authorities issued an urgent alert. Two officers spotted Routh’s vehicle 45 minutes after the gun was found and followed him. He was ultimately apprehended on Interstate 95.

Routh’s social media activity reveals a complex picture of his political views. While he has expressed support for Ukraine’s war effort and called for foreign fighters to join the battle against Russian forces, he has also shared pro-Palestinian, pro-Taiwan, and anti-China messages. He has even spoken out against Trump in the past, criticizing him on social media.

Routh’s criminal history dates back to the 1990s, including charges of writing bad checks, possession of a fully automatic machine gun, and multiple misdemeanors, including hit-and-run, resisting arrest, and a concealed weapons violation.

Routh’s son, Oran, has spoken out about his father, saying, “I don’t know what’s happened in Florida, and I hope things have just been blown out of proportion, because from the little I’ve heard it doesn’t sound like the man I know to do anything crazy, much less violent.”

No official charges have been filed against Routh, but he is expected to appear in court later today.

The FBI, Secret Service, and local law enforcement are investigating the incident, which has heightened security concerns following previous attempts on Trump’s life.
