Icelandic game developer CCP Games has announced **”Eve Frontier,”** a space survival game set within the popular **”Eve Online”** universe, featuring blockchain integration. The game, previously known as **”Project Awakening,”** shares similarities with its predecessor but emphasizes survival with a focus on resource management and collaboration.

Players will awaken from stasis as the last remnants of humanity, facing hostile drone swarms and competing for scarce resources in a challenging environment. **Eve Frontier** utilizes blockchain technology to enable community-driven development, with players having the ability to build infrastructure and create new features and experiences within the game.

**CCP Games** has raised $40 million to fuel its blockchain gaming ambitions and has confirmed that **Eve Frontier** will feature crypto tokens, primarily the **”Eve Token,”** which will serve as a utility token with external value. Players can also build their own crypto tokens within the game.

The game will be built on the **Ethereum** blockchain, specifically utilizing the **ERC-20 token standard** and the **Redstone layer-2 network**. CCP Games has also created the **Carbon engine,** which will be open-sourced, and plans to use the **MUD on-chain engine** from **Lattice.**

While **Eve Frontier** is not directly connected to **Eve Online**, it shares its lore and will be a completely separate game. While some speculate it could eventually replace **Eve Online**, the details are yet to be revealed.
