Sun Sep 15 11:18:30 UTC 2024: ## Parrott Nets Four in AZ Alkmaar’s Record-Breaking Win

**Alkmaar, Netherlands** – Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott had a night to remember, scoring four goals in AZ Alkmaar’s historic 9-1 victory over Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie. The 22-year-old Irishman, who joined AZ in the summer, had been struggling to find the back of the net in his first four appearances for the club.

Parrott broke his duck midway through the first half, putting AZ 2-1 up before completing a hat-trick in a devastating eight-minute spell in the second half. This was AZ Alkmaar’s biggest ever victory in the Eredivisie, and Parrott was understandably ecstatic.

“It’s a beautiful feeling to have a special night like this,” he said after the match. “I really wanted that first goal and I’m really glad it came in front of our own fans.”

The former Belvedere player admitted that the goals were a welcome relief after a frustrating spell with the Irish national team, where he was left on the bench for their recent Nations League losses to England and Greece.

“Obviously for me as a striker it’s disappointing not to score in the previous games because I always want to score goals,” Parrott added. “But I don’t stress over these things, it’s normal, this is football you can’t play every game perfect. I believe in my own ability and I believe the team that we’ve got here is a really good team and we will create chances.”

Parrott’s four-goal performance was a statement of his intent and a sign that he is settling in nicely at his new club. With his confidence boosted, he will be looking to continue his goalscoring form and help AZ Alkmaar challenge for honors this season.
