**Queens, NY -** The Killers kicked off their two-night stand at Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday night with a special tribute to The Beatles, marking the 60th anniversary of the iconic band’s performance at the same venue.
Frontman Brandon Flowers acknowledged the historical significance of the venue, mentioning the Beatles’ 1964 shows and their influence on music. To honor the Fab Four, the band performed a rendition of “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” a song they had never played live before. This choice was particularly fitting as the song was a staple in the Beatles’ setlist during their 1964 Forest Hills shows.
Beyond the tribute, The Killers delivered a set packed with their own hits, including “Somebody Told Me,” “Read My Mind,” “All Things That I’ve Done,” and their signature song, “Mr. Brightside.” They also threw in a cover of Erasure’s 1988 classic “A Little Respect.”
The Killers’ performance took place just over two weeks after the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ concerts at Forest Hills Stadium. The original lineup in 1964 also included other legendary artists like Barbra Streisand, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Harry Belafonte.
The band will play their second night at Forest Hills Stadium on Sunday before taking a short break. They will then headline the Ocean Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland, on September 28th, followed by shows in Mexico and Australia later in the year.
