Mumbai all-rounder Shams Mulani has had a memorable first-class match in the Duleep Trophy 2024, contributing significantly to India A’s thumping 186-run victory over India D. After scoring a match-saving 89 in the first innings, Mulani continued his impressive performance with the ball, claiming four wickets and executing a rare run-out.
Mulani’s moment of brilliance came when he dislodged the stumps at the non-striker’s end to dismiss India D opener Yash Dubey, who was attempting a quick single. Dubey had mistakenly thought the ball had gone past him after deflecting off his bat, but Mulani’s quick thinking and sharp reflexes allowed him to grab the ball and effect the run-out.
This run-out proved crucial as India A went on to set a massive target of 487 in the second innings. Mulani also played a pivotal role in dismantling India D’s middle order, taking the wickets of Devdutt Padikkal, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson.
