**London, UK -** The United States and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to Israel’s security during a joint statement following the US-UK strategic dialogue on Saturday.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy met in London to discuss key aspects of the US-UK partnership, including the ongoing support for Ukraine and the promotion of peace and security in the Middle East.
Both countries expressed their strong support for mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the need to avoid further regional escalation. They also reiterated their commitment to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“We are seeking a lasting security solution along the Blue Line that will allow Israeli and Lebanese civilians on both sides to return to their homes with safety and security,” the statement read.
Both Blinken and Lammy called on all parties to protect civilians and for Israel to allow for the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. They welcomed the ongoing polio vaccination campaign in the region.
The two leaders also expressed concern about Iran’s destabilizing activities in the Middle East, including its proliferation of advanced weaponry and its financial and logistical support for Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and other groups.
