Sun Sep 15 00:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Tripura Cracks Down on Drugs, Seizes Over ₹2 Crore Worth of Yaba Tablets in Major Operation

**Agartala, Sept. 14:** In a significant victory against narcotics, Tripura Police have arrested three individuals and confiscated an estimated ₹2.28 crore worth of Yaba tablets in a late-night raid in Dhalai District. This operation is part of the state’s ongoing “Nasha Mukta Tripura” (Drug-Free Tripura) initiative.

The raid took place at the Durgachowmuhani Naka checkpoint where police apprehended three individuals traveling in a Tata Safari. Upon inspection, they discovered 91,200 Yaba tablets concealed in 456 small poly packets. The suspects, identified as Litan Miah, Saminul Islam, and Jahir Hossain, all hail from Sonamura in Sepahijala District, bordering Bangladesh.

Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and are investigating to uncover further links in the drug trafficking network.

This operation follows a string of successful drug seizures in the state. On Friday, Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) conducted separate operations resulting in the seizure of drugs worth a combined ₹11.32 crore.

In one operation, police arrested two individuals and seized heroin worth ₹11 crore from Kaskao in North District. In another, BSF troops seized 3,000 pieces of Yaba tablets worth ₹15 lakh from Bamutia under West Tripura.

These coordinated efforts demonstrate the state’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and building a drug-free Tripura.
