**KOTA KINABALU** – Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has emphasized the positive impact of the formation of Malaysia on the state, particularly highlighting the unity and prosperity that have been fostered. Speaking in conjunction with Malaysia Day 2024 celebrations, Hajiji acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead in building a stronger nation but expressed confidence in the ability of Malaysians to work together for a united future.
Hajiji praised the unity government’s focus on the well-being of all citizens and highlighted the significance of the Malaysia Day theme, “Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka”, as a reflection of the nation’s progress. He emphasized the six core values of Madani Malaysia, which aim to create a resilient, harmonious, and progressive society.
“Jiwa Merdeka” signifies the freedom from negativity and emphasizes patriotism and love for the country. It also embodies a broader approach to social and economic integration, crucial for building a strong and harmonious union amongst Malaysians, Hajiji stated.
The Chief Minister further emphasized that the values of Madani Malaysia align perfectly with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) policy, which guides the state government’s comprehensive development plans. This synergy, he said, demonstrates a shared determination to see both Sabah and Malaysia continue to prosper in a secure and thriving environment.
Hajiji concluded by stressing the importance of unity and mutual respect between races in Sabah as a crucial factor in the success of Malaysia. He urged all Malaysians to strengthen the spirit of unity and work towards a prosperous, sovereign, and internationally respected nation.
He also described Malaysia Day as a meaningful celebration for all Malaysians, commemorating the historical moment when Malaya, Sarawak, and Sabah united to form the Federation of Malaysia as a sovereign and independent nation. He expressed hope that the celebration will serve as a source of renewed inspiration and strength in the ongoing pursuit of national betterment.
