**Los Angeles, CA** – The 76th Emmy Awards saw a historic night as FX’s “Shogun” and “The Bear” dominated the ceremony with a combined 29 wins, despite a surprising upset in the comedy series category.

“Shogun,” a historical drama set in 16th-century Japan, took home the coveted Best Dramatic Series award, along with both Lead Actor and Actress wins for Hiroyuku Sanada and Anna Sawai, respectively. Sawai became the first actress of Asian descent to win the prestigious award.

While “The Bear,” a critically acclaimed comedy about a chef running a family sandwich shop, lost its crown to HBO Max’s “Hacks,” it still garnered a win for lead actor Jeremy Allen White, along with supporting actor and actress wins for Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colón-Zayas.

The night’s other major winner was HBO Max’s “Hacks,” which took home three awards, including Best Comedy Series and Best Lead Actress for the veteran Jean Smart.

Netflix’s British dark comedy “Baby Reindeer” secured six awards, including Best Limited or Anthology Series and Best Lead Actor for Richard Gadd.

The ceremony also saw Jodie Foster win Best Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for HBO Max’s “True Detective: Night Country.”

“Shogun” and “The Bear” entered the night as the two most-nominated shows, receiving 25 and 23 nods respectively. Other notable contenders included Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” and HBO Max’s “True Detective: Night Country.”
