Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan has revealed that despite her own successful career, she feels her husband, actor Jack Lowden, is the one who gets recognised more often.
Ronan, who recently married Lowden in Edinburgh, confessed to Total Film that she often finds herself in situations where fans approach the couple wanting a photo with Lowden.
“The funniest thing is when I’m with my partner and I think someone’s recognised me,” she explains, “And I’m like (sighs), ‘I’m just not in the mood. I’m knackered’. And then they come over, and they’re like, ‘Jack, I love you’ laughs).”
The actress, known for her roles in films like “Lady Bird” and “Brooklyn”, acknowledges the fame of her husband, who stars in the Apple TV+ spy thriller series “Slow Horses”. “And they’re like to me (oblivious of whom I am), ‘Can you take a photo of us?’. I’m like, ‘Sure yeah! That’s right, he’s the one from Slow Horses!.”
Despite her own achievements, including starring in the video for Ed Sheeran’s “Galway Girl” and hosting Saturday Night Live, Ronan insists she doesn’t feel “famous” in the same way as other stars like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, or Timothée Chalamet.
“I still don’t think fame has crept up on me,” she said, adding, “The only time I feel that way is if someone comes up to me on the street and goes, ‘Are you Saoirse Ronan?’. Then I’m like ‘Oh, that’s a thing that some people know’.”
Ronan and Lowden first met in 2017 while working together on the film “Mary Queen of Scots”.
