**Enugu, Nigeria** – The Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders Association, Stephen Aniago, was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in Enugu on Saturday night. The Enugu State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the incident.

Police Spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe stated that Aniago was ambushed along Amechi Road by armed men in a Toyota Corolla car. They shot him and then fled with his own blue Toyota Corolla. Police arrived at the scene and transported Aniago to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“The Enugu State Police Command Operatives are on the trail of the armed assailants,” Ndukwe said in a statement. “A tactical team has been deployed to apprehend the suspects,” he added, assuring the public that justice would be served.

Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu ordered a discreet investigation into the incident and instructed police to use all resources available to track down the assailants. “We will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book,” Uzuegbu stated.

The murder has shocked the community, and traders at the Ogbete Main Market are in mourning. The police investigation is ongoing.
