**Tel Aviv, Israel** – A Latvian tourist was apprehended at Ben Gurion Airport last week for attempting to smuggle 100 packs of cigarettes, valued at approximately NIS 20,000. The incident occurred when the passenger, who entered the green lane in the passenger hall, refused to comply with customs officials’ instructions to scan his belongings.

According to reports, the suspect attempted to flee back towards the luggage conveyor belt but was apprehended by joint forces of Customs agents and Israel Police’s Detective Unit 747. His documents were confiscated, and the passenger was subsequently deported back to Latvia.
