**Ahmedabad, India -** Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project on Monday, taking a ride on the newly launched route from Section 1 metro station to GIFT City metro station. Accompanied by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Modi also interacted with young people during the metro journey.

The project, a collaborative effort between the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation, state, and central government, marks a significant step towards improving public transportation in Ahmedabad.

In addition to the metro inauguration, Modi launched a series of key projects across the city, including the highly anticipated Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, which will connect Ahmedabad to peripheral cities. The 12-coach rail project, starting from Bhuj and renamed after the Prime Minister, promises to increase travel efficiency compared to suburban trains, according to the Railway Ministry. The service is expected to be operational from September 17.

Modi’s visit encompassed a vast range of development initiatives worth over ₹8,000 crore. He laid the foundation stone for projects including the quadrupling of the Samakhiali-Gandhidham and Gandhidham-Adipur railway lines, and the construction of flyover bridges at Bakrol, Hathijan, Ramol, and Panjarpol Junction.

Further emphasizing sustainable energy, Modi launched a 30 MW solar system and a 35 Megawatt BESS Solar PV Project at the Kutch Lignite Thermal Power Station, along with 220 kilovolt substations in Morbi and Rajkot. He also met beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Vavol, a scheme providing free electricity to households that install rooftop solar units.

Modi’s whirlwind tour of Ahmedabad highlights the government’s focus on infrastructure development, sustainable energy, and empowering citizens through innovative initiatives.
