**BERGAMO, ITALY** – Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino expressed his pride in his team’s performance despite a 3-2 loss to Atalanta on Saturday, calling it their “best performance since I’ve been here.”
The Viola took the lead twice at the Gewiss Stadium, with goals from Lucas Martinez Quarta and Moise Kean, but conceded two goals within a minute from Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman just before halftime.
Despite the defeat, Palladino was optimistic about his team’s progress. He highlighted the “fantastic” first 44 minutes where Fiorentina dominated Atalanta and created numerous scoring opportunities.
“We made two naive errors in a minute and a half,” Palladino admitted, “but that first half was our best performance… I learned a lot from it. There are regrets for those two minutes, but this game will help us to grow.”
This loss comes after a difficult start to the season for Fiorentina, who had drawn their previous four matches across Serie A and the Europa Conference League. While acknowledging the need for improvement, especially defensively, Palladino emphasized the team’s growing understanding of his new tactical approach.
“I see improvement from the individuals and the team, playing very well against a strong Atalanta side,” he said. “We will work during the week to do even better.”
With a new coach and a new system, Fiorentina fans are hoping that this “best performance” is a sign of things to come for the Viola.
