**Mumbai, India:** An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Doha, Qatar was delayed for nearly five hours, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at Mumbai airport. The flight, 6E 1303, was scheduled to depart at 3:55 am but was ultimately canceled due to a technical issue with the aircraft.
Passengers reported being forced to wait inside the aircraft for hours without any updates or adequate provisions. They alleged that they were not allowed to deboard due to the completion of immigration procedures, and were eventually moved to a holding area after a heated exchange with airline staff.
“We were not given any water or food,” said one frustrated passenger. “It’s a chaos over here. People are worried as their jobs are at risk. Passengers are waiting with their children.”
An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the delay and cancellation, citing a technical issue. They attributed the lengthy delay to procedural hurdles. “The aircraft tried to depart for its destination a couple of times but had to finally be called off due to the extended time lag,” the spokesperson explained.
The airline claims that its airport team provided refreshments and assistance to the affected passengers, and they are being accommodated in hotels and rebooked to their final destinations. IndiGo has apologized for the inconvenience caused.
This incident follows a similar incident on Saturday with a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga, where passengers were left stranded after a flight cancellation minutes before boarding.
The recent string of delays and cancellations by both IndiGo and SpiceJet has raised concerns among passengers. The airlines are facing increasing scrutiny over their operational efficiency and customer service.
