Sun Sep 15 15:51:06 UTC 2024: ## Fire at Cian O’Connor’s Equestrian Centre Brought Under Control, No Horses Harmed

**Batterstown, Co Meath** – Olympic medal-winning showjumper Cian O’Connor has expressed relief after a fire broke out at his multi-million euro Karlswood equestrian centre in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The blaze, which originated in a large barn, was swiftly brought under control by units from Ashbourne and Dunshaughlin fire stations. All horses were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

“We were able to accommodate all our horses in-house,” O’Connor said, adding that he was “very lucky and relieved”.

The fire was contained before it could spread to nearby stables. The state-of-the-art facility, owned by O’Connor’s company Ronnoco, features indoor and outdoor arenas, a salt therapy room, equine spa, aqua treadmill and solarium.

O’Connor’s Karlswood centre is a major player in the international showjumping scene, with revenue exceeding €20 million in 2018. The business focuses on the production and sale of showjumping horses, as well as coaching and management services for clients.

O’Connor, who won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, has competed extensively for Ireland at major international events.

Despite the incident, the fire was brought under control before it could cause any significant damage to the facility or its inhabitants.
