Health authorities are now monitoring 26 individuals who were in contact with the deceased. The 24-year-old student, who had recently returned from Bengaluru, succumbed to an unknown illness at a private hospital three days ago.
Initial tests conducted at a lab in Kozhikode showed a positive result for Nipah virus, raising serious concerns. However, confirmation awaits results from the Pune Virology Institute. The deceased student had been experiencing fever and leg pain.
