Sun Sep 15 10:21:00 UTC 2024: ## Thailand Launches QR Licence App for Motorists, Eliminating Need for Physical Driver’s Licenses

**Bangkok, Thailand** – The Department of Land Transport (DLT) in Thailand has launched a new mobile app, “QR Licence”, that allows motorists to ditch their physical driver’s licenses. The app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, displays a digital version of the license on smartphones and tablets.

Director-General of the DLT, Seksom Akraphand, emphasized the convenience of the app. It not only displays essential information like name, blood type, and allergy history, but also provides crucial reminders for licence renewal.

The app goes beyond basic information, offering drivers the ability to share their travel routes, location, and vehicle registration number with others. This feature can be particularly useful for tracking loved ones or sharing location in emergencies. Additionally, the app allows users to send emergency messages via phone or SMS in case of an accident.

The app also serves as a platform for accessing news and information from the DLT, making it a valuable tool for staying updated on traffic regulations and updates.

However, it’s important to note that only newer driver’s licenses with a QR code on the back are compatible with the QR Licence app. Motorists can download the app from the Google Play Store or App Store.

This innovative approach to driver’s licenses is expected to modernize the transportation system in Thailand and improve convenience for drivers.
