
Sun Sep 15 13:56:41 UTC 2024: ## NDLEA Busts Drug Traffickers, Seizes Tons of Opioids, Cocaine, and Cannabis in Nationwide Crackdown
**Lagos, Nigeria** – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a series of significant drug busts across Nigeria, arresting several individuals and seizing large quantities of illegal substances, including opioids, cocaine, and cannabis.
Among the high-profile arrests are Mrs. Adewunmi Adebola Dorcas, an Ibadan-based businesswoman, and Arinze Ora, an auto parts dealer. Dorcas was apprehended for attempting to export 924 bottles of codeine syrup and 5,250 Rohypnol tablets disguised as foodstuffs to the United Kingdom, while Ora was caught trying to send 300 grams of cocaine concealed in checkers powder custard and auto parts to Congo Brazzaville.
The NDLEA also arrested two brothers, Ikechukwu and Ugochukwu Ikeabba, who were allegedly sponsoring drug traffickers specializing in exporting drugs by ingestion to Vietnam. This arrest came after the agency apprehended two other individuals, Ibeanusi Solomon Nosike and Paul Okwuy Mbadugha, who were caught attempting to smuggle cocaine into Vietnam by swallowing it.
In separate operations, the NDLEA seized 2,490,000 tramadol pills, 41.5 kilograms of cannabis sativa, and 73.6 kilograms of cannabis in Gombe, Kaduna, and Ekiti states respectively. Additionally, operatives in Lagos recovered 104kg of cannabis and 350,000 bottles of codeine syrup from containers shipped from India.
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended the agency’s officers for their successful operations, highlighting the ongoing efforts in reducing both drug supply and demand. He urged them to remain vigilant and continue intensifying their efforts in the fight against drug abuse.
