**Edison, NJ** – A nationwide recall has been issued for a number of snack items produced by Indian firm Bliss Tree and imported by Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Overseas. The recall, categorized as Class II by the FDA, stems from concerns that the products may contain undeclared milk and sesame allergens.
The FDA discovered the issue during a routine label review, finding that these allergens were not listed on the packaging despite being present in the snacks. The problem was attributed to a temporary breakdown in the company’s packaging process, which has been suspended. Production and distribution will remain halted until the FDA confirms the issue has been rectified.
Consumers are advised to avoid consuming the recalled products, which were sold at retail stores in California, New Jersey, Georgia, Arizona, and Maryland, as well as online through Amazon.
The FDA has emphasized the potential dangers of consuming these snacks for individuals with milk and sesame allergies. Undisclosed allergens could trigger severe or even life-threatening reactions, including anaphylaxis, which requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms include throat swelling, difficulty breathing, a sudden drop in blood pressure, and loss of consciousness.
Consumers are urged to check their pantries for the affected snack items and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For a complete list of recalled products, visit the FDA website.
