Sun Sep 15 02:48:00 UTC 2024: ## MIC Annual General Meeting Draws Record Crowd, Signals Renewed Hope for the Party

**SHAH ALAM** – The MIC Annual General Meeting kicked off on Sunday with an enthusiastic turnout, filling the venue to capacity. Delegates from across the country arrived in large numbers, showcasing a renewed sense of hope and ambition for the party’s future.

Party president Tan Sri S.A Vigneswaran, in his opening address, highlighted a growing recognition of the party’s significance among the Indian community, noting that former critics are now rallying behind MIC. Vigneswaran stated that the party is actively pursuing its goals, aligning with the vision of the late president Tun S. Samy Vellu.

“Tun was more than a leader, he was a paternal figure who guided us in education and introduced us to politics,” Vigneswaran said, reflecting on the profound influence Samy Vellu had on both him and his deputy, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan. He acknowledged that while party members and delegates had elected them to their positions, it was Samy Vellu who truly paved the way for their political careers.

The record attendance and Vigneswaran’s optimistic address signal a potential resurgence for the MIC, as it looks to reclaim its role as a leading voice for the Indian community.
