**KANO, NIGERIA** – The Kano State Government has announced a postponement of the resumption date for all-day public and private primary and post-primary schools. The new resumption date is now **Tuesday, September 17th, 2024**, to allow students to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
Boarding school students will resume on **Monday, September 16th**, according to a statement released by the State Ministry of Education.
The decision was confirmed by the State Commissioner of Education, Umar Doguwa, who stated that the adjustment is meant to ensure students can fully participate in the religious holiday.
“While congratulating the Muslim Ummah, I wish to call on them to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and patriotism and to continue to pray for the state and the nation at large,” Doguwa added.
Parents and guardians are urged to note the new resumption date to ensure compliance. The Commissioner also wished students, pupils, and teachers a peaceful and successful Maulud celebration and academic session.
