**London, UK** – Jay Blades, the popular presenter of BBC’s “The Repair Shop,” has resigned from the King’s Foundation after being charged with engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards his wife. The 54-year-old, who previously won a daytime BAFTA for a special episode featuring King Charles III (then Prince of Wales), had been an ambassador for the charity and even visited their Dumfries House location for a BBC special.
Blades, a furniture restorer and MBE recipient, is facing a single count of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship, stemming from an alleged incident with his fitness instructor wife, Lisa Zbozen. The charge comes after Zbozen announced the end of their marriage on her Instagram page on May 2nd.
Following Blades’ court appearance on Friday, the BBC has reportedly dropped a repeat of his show “David & Jay’s Touring Toolshed” and will not schedule any future programmes featuring him. Blades has also resigned from his role as chancellor at Buckinghamshire New University.
He is scheduled to appear in Worcester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on October 11th.
