Jane’s Addiction has cancelled their show in Bridgeport, CT tonight, September 15, after an on-stage altercation between vocalist Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro during their Boston show on September 13. The band issued an apology to fans for the incident, stating, “We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night.” The statement continued, “As a result we will be cancelling tomorrow night’s show in Bridgeport. Refunds will be issued at your point of purchase.”
The incident began when Farrell, reportedly frustrated with the band’s volume and his inability to be heard due to a sore throat and tinnitus, became angry with Navarro. His wife, Etty Lau Farrell, described the scene in detail on Instagram, claiming that Farrell was “pushed to the edge” by the loud volume and a rowdy crowd.
According to Etty, Farrell’s frustration grew when the audience began complaining that they couldn’t hear him. This culminated in an on-stage confrontation where Farrell “body checked” Navarro. The band’s bassist, Eric Avery, then allegedly intervened and punched Farrell in the stomach. The incident led to a chaotic scene where Farrell was described as a “crazed beast” before ultimately breaking down in tears.
The incident has left fans wondering about the future of the tour with Love & Rockets. Jane’s Addiction’s next scheduled show is in Toronto, ON on September 18.
