**MANILA, PHILIPPINES** – Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has expressed sadness and support for cardiologist Dr. Willie Ong, who recently revealed he is battling abdominal cancer.

Moreno, who spoke with Ong and his wife, Dra. Lisa, last Friday, stated he is hoping for Ong’s quick recovery. “I am saddened by this news, but I am also hopeful for his quick recovery,” Moreno said.

The former mayor, who ran for vice president alongside Ong in the 2022 elections, also shared an uplifting message for his friend and former tandem. He urged the public to pray for Ong’s recovery and to include his family in their prayers.

Dr. Willie Ong, a renowned cardiologist and health advocate, disclosed on social media that he has a large abdominal cancer. Doctors discovered a 16 x 13 x 12 centimeter sarcoma in his abdomen, located near his heart and spine.

While acknowledging the seriousness of his condition, Dr. Ong remains optimistic and has vowed to fight the battle. He has been a vocal advocate for public health and has previously served as a consultant for the Department of Health.
