Sun Sep 15 15:12:18 UTC 2024: ## Trump Rages Against Taylor Swift After Endorsement of Kamala Harris
Donald Trump has lashed out at pop star Taylor Swift after she publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election. Trump, in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, declared, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” days after Swift’s endorsement.
The feud escalated after Swift endorsed Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, concluding her Instagram post with “Childless Cat Lady,” a playful jab at Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, who has criticized the country’s leadership as “childless cat ladies.”
In response, Harris-Walz spokesperson Sarafina Chitika issued a statement packed with Swift song references, saying Trump’s “week of whining and spouting conspiracy theories” has voters eager to “Forget That He Existed.” Chitika emphasized the need to “turn the page on the Trump Era” and elect Harris for a “future of opportunity.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has reacted negatively to Swift’s endorsement. Last week, he expressed disdain for her, suggesting she was a “very liberal person” who would “probably pay a price” for her political stance. Despite his disapproval, Trump seemingly admires Swift’s merchandise, as his campaign recently released a t-shirt that mirrors the design of Swift’s Eras tour merchandise.
Swift’s endorsement stems from her concern over the spread of misinformation, particularly after an AI-generated image falsely depicted her endorsing Trump. She wrote, “It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift’s endorsement sparked a surge in voter registration, with over 400,000 people registering on vote.gov following her announcement. The ongoing feud between Trump and Swift adds a unique twist to the 2024 election, with the pop star’s influence proving to be a significant factor in mobilizing voters.
