(City, State) – With the new cross-country season looming, excitement is building as teams prepare for another year of fierce competition. While last year saw Boston College High claim a respectable third place finish at the Division 1 All-State meet, the Eagles are poised for a run at the top with the return of star runners Greg McGrath, Shamus Larnard, and John Wilson.

But they face stiff competition. Defending champion Brookline will be in the hunt once again, led by Altamo Aschkenasy and Lysander Duffield. Lexington boasts a talented group spearheaded by Patrick Noonan, while Westford Academy’s Jack Graffeo will be a standout to watch in any event. Reading could emerge as a dark horse contender, thanks to the strong performances of Chris Barbato and Tim Connolly.

Division 2 promises a tight race, with Danvers emerging as a strong contender with William Conklin, Jonathan Rooney, and Charlie Garlin returning. Ludlow will also be a force to be reckoned with, relying on Joseph Keroack and Logan Walsh. Marblehead will lean on Nate Assa and Will Cerrutti, while Melrose welcomes back Caleb Barnes.

Parker Charter is the clear favorite in Division 3, with Henry Jacobsen, Nathaniel Henshaw, Jett Johnson, and Connor Stach returning to lead the charge. Hamilton-Wenham boasts a solid 1-2 punch in Ben Rich and James Regan, while Ben McWaters (Bromfield) and Jack Tutun will be vying for top spots.

On the girls’ side, Oliver Ames is expected to dominate Division 1 once again, with Braelyn Graham, Hannah Dupill, and Iole Apostoli leading the way. Weymouth will be a close competitor, with Gracie Richard and Isabella Galusha back in the mix. Wellesley’s Bridget Reidy and Emma Tuxbury are also contenders, along with Newton North’s Maggie Abely and Ciara Evans.

Division 2 sees Northampton aiming high with the return of Maeve O’Neil. Whitinsville Christian has Emily Flagg and Emma Wierenga poised for success, while Medfield will be represented by Chloe McCormack and Anna LaRowe. Holliston’s Maggie Kuchman and Annabelle Lynch are expected to be strong competitors as well.

Bromfield is the clear frontrunner in Division 3, with Evelyn Wool and Rosie Bradley leading the charge. Hamilton-Wenham’s Grace Rich, Asa Labell, and Charlotte Madden will be key players, as will Olivia Pendleton and Siena Lauze of Dennis-Yarmouth.
