**Kibbutz Manara, Israel** – Six months after fleeing their home due to relentless Hezbollah rocket attacks, Yulia Bar-Dan and her family returned to their kibbutz in northern Israel to retrieve what they could of their life. The once vibrant community now resembles a warzone, with 75% of structures damaged.

Bar-Dan was granted just one hour to gather belongings, a grim reminder of the constant threat they face. She found her home, like many others, destroyed by a Hezbollah missile.

The situation in northern Israel is dire. Since Hezbollah joined the conflict alongside Hamas in October, over 7,500 rockets have been fired from Lebanon, killing 44 people, injuring 271, and forcing 62,000 residents to evacuate. The economic damage is estimated at billions of dollars.

While the Israeli government was slow to react, residents of northern communities like Kibbutz Manara took matters into their own hands, fearing a full-scale invasion. The kibbutz’s rapid response unit, comprised of community members with combat experience, has been defending against rocket attacks, infiltrations, and even wildfires ignited by missile debris.

Life for the residents has become a constant struggle for survival. Children attend school but spend hours in bomb shelters. Farmers have lost their livelihoods as orchards and vineyards were destroyed. The constant threat of attack hangs over them, forcing many to question if they will ever return to their homes.

Despite the hardship, Bar-Dan insists they must rebuild. “Manara is on the border. If we’re not there, who will be?” she asks.

The world’s focus may be elsewhere, but the reality on the ground is brutal. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to devastate northern Israel, leaving residents in a state of fear and uncertainty.
