Sat Sep 14 23:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Congress Criticizes Modi Government’s Vande Bharat Train Inauguration as “Political Event”

Jamshedpur, Sept 14: AICC Executive Committee member Dr Ajoy Kumar has criticized the upcoming inauguration of the Vande Bharat train in Tatanagar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “political event,” arguing that it caters to a privileged few while neglecting the needs of the majority.

Kumar, while addressing the media, questioned the relevance of the inauguration for the 80% of the population in the region whose monthly income falls between Rs 18,000 and Rs 25,000, stating that they would be unable to afford the train’s fares. He further criticized the government’s focus on luxury trains while neglecting the maintenance and improvement of ordinary trains used by millions.

The Congress leader also pointed out the government’s failure to address pressing issues like rail accidents and the lack of punctuality in train services. He further accused the BJP of betraying the Adivasi community, highlighting the delay in approving the “Sarna religion” bill that was passed by the Jharkhand state cabinet two years ago.

Kumar refuted claims made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma about land grabbing by Bangladeshi infiltrators, citing a recent affidavit filed by the Union Home Ministry in the Jharkhand High Court that admitted having no data on such incidents. He demanded Sarma’s resignation for making baseless accusations.

The Congress party is demanding the Modi government prioritize the needs of the common people and invest in improving infrastructure and services for the benefit of all citizens.
