Sat Sep 14 19:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Police Files FIR Against Unknown Persons for Bursting Firecrackers Outside CM Kejriwal’s Residence
**New Delhi, Sept. 14:** Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unidentified individuals for bursting firecrackers outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence in Civil Lines, violating the city’s ban on firecrackers. The incident occurred on Friday evening, shortly after Kejriwal’s release from Tihar Jail following a Supreme Court bail order in a corruption case.
A sub-inspector, deployed for law and order at the CM’s residence, filed the complaint, stating that a large crowd had gathered and he heard the sound of firecrackers, despite the ban imposed by the Kejriwal government on Monday. The officer stated that those responsible for the fireworks fled the scene.
The FIR has been registered under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to disobedience of orders issued by a public servant.
The ban on firecrackers was implemented by the Delhi government to curb air pollution during the upcoming winter season. While AAP workers had gathered to welcome their leader upon his release, their celebratory actions, including bursting firecrackers, have now drawn legal attention.
This incident highlights the challenge of enforcing such bans and the need for greater awareness and adherence to environmental regulations, particularly in the context of celebrating events.
