**Bangalore, India:** The Indian Air Force is set to receive a new and improved version of the indigenous fighter aircraft, the LCA Tejas. The upgraded variant, known as the LCA Air Force Mark II, is being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and is set to feature advanced capabilities.
Raji Rajpurohit, from the Aeronautics Development Authority in Bangalore, announced that the LCA Air Force Mark II is nearing completion. The upgraded version boasts improved weapons systems, including the integration of 11 new weapons and a built-in cannon.
Alongside the LCA Mark II, India is also developing a next-generation fighter, the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). This stealth technology fighter is expected to take to the skies in 2028.
The development of both the LCA Mark II and the AMCA signifies India’s commitment to building a self-reliant defense sector and achieving technological independence.
