Mon Sep 16 06:00:03 UTC 2024: ## Bank Holidays Across India: Eid-e-Milad, Regional Festivals, and More

**New Delhi, India (September 16, 2024):** Several states across India will observe bank holidays today, September 16, in observance of Eid-e-Milad. These states include Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.

While the holiday was initially scheduled for September 16, it was shifted to September 18 in Maharashtra to avoid clashing with the Anant Chaturdashi or Ganesh Visarjan celebrations. All public and private banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), will remain closed on September 18 in Maharashtra.

Other states have also declared bank holidays for various regional festivals. Sikkim will observe a bank holiday on September 17 for Indra Jatra, while Kerala will have a holiday on September 18 for Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti.

It is important to note that bank holidays may vary from state to state and are not observed nationwide. Customers are advised to check with their local bank branches or refer to app notifications for confirmation on holidays.

Despite the closures, online services will be operational for all banks. Customers can access their accounts through websites and mobile banking apps and withdraw cash from ATMs.

The month of September will see a total of 14 bank holidays in India, including weekend holidays, religious festivals, and regional celebrations. This includes the second and fourth Saturdays, Sundays, and various festivals like Eid-e-Milad, Indra Jatra, and Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti.
