Sun Sep 15 11:53:15 UTC 2024: ## Otulu Community Remains Part of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom: Monarch

**Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State:** Tensions are rising in the Otulu community over claims of autonomy from the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom. A group led by Mr. Chukwuma Nwaka has accused the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku, HRM Obi Ifechukwude Okonjo, of attempting to seize ancestral lands belonging to Otulu.

Nwaka called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and state security agencies to intervene, claiming that Otulu is an autonomous community and that the Ogwashi-Uku monarch is trying to forcibly take over their lands.

However, HRM Obi Okonjo, through his spokesperson Chief Jude Obidi, vehemently denied these claims, asserting that Otulu is an integral part of the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom. He cited historical and legal documentation from various state governments to support his claim.

The monarch also highlighted the appointment of Chief Anthony Enurah as the current leader of Otulu by the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, a fact officially recognized and gazetted by the Delta State government.

Regarding the alleged unrest in Otulu, the monarch stated that the community has been peaceful for the past three years, following the imprisonment of individuals responsible for previous violence.

Otulu elders have confirmed the peaceful nature of the community over the past three years, attributing the recent unrest to the release of individuals on bail who are allegedly behind the violence.

Despite the brewing tensions, both the Ogwashi-Uku monarch and elders from the Otulu community maintain that Otulu remains an integral part of the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom.
